Following the Maldives and India, destinations in Southeast Asia were among the first in Asia Pacific to welcome vaccinated international travellers in the first half of 2022. This has resulted in a significant pent-up demand from leisure tourists despite the global challenges in airlift. With all borders reopened in the region as of May 2023, Southeast Asia is on the runway to full recovery.
