JLL hosting London property exhibition in Bangkok

Exclusive condominium development West End Gate is expected to be well received by Thai buyers

Bangkok 16 March 2017 - Berkeley Homes, one of the UK's best known developers, in association with JLL, is hosting a property exhibition introducing West End Gate in Bangkok on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 March 2017. Set in one of London's most prestigious postcodes, West End Gate is an exclusive condominium development with prices starting from £905,000 for a one bedroom apartment.

Maarten Prins, Head of International Residential Property Services at JLL Thailand, says: "Following the UK's vote to leave the European Union in June last year, the British Pound has fallen by almost 20% against the Thai Baht, making it cheaper for Thais to purchase properties in the UK. As a result, more Thais are now actively looking for an opportunity to invest in UK real estate and in the London condominium market in particular."

"For this reason, we expect the launch of West End Gate in Bangkok to be well received by Thais looking for an investment opportunity in London, one of the world's safest havens," he adds.

Designed for Berkeley Homes by architects Squire & Partners, West End Gate is the pinnacle of contemporary London living. The first limited release of apartments, set in the dramatic Westmark tower, are a collection of stylish Manhattan suites and one, two and three-bedroom apartments, the majority of which feature balconies. At 30 storeys, the tower is the tallest of the buildings at West End Gate and provides sweeping views across London. Set adjacent to the red-brick mansion blocks that complete the development, the architecture is a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity.

"Buyers who purchase a unit at West End Gate and put it up for rent can expect investment yields ranging between 3%-4% per annum. However, most buyers put a greater focus on a potential capital gain in the long term as residential prices in London are likely to continue to rise due to strong demand for and a structural undersupply of new homes. This huge gap between demand and supply is likely to persist for at least another 5 years," says Mr. Prins.

"In the Paddington area where West End Gate is located, the house prices and rental forecasts are also positive for the coming years due to its strategic location," he adds.

Edgware Road station is a mere one-minute walk from West End Gate. Served by the Bakerloo, Circle, District and Hammersmith and City Underground Lines, access across the capital is convenient and frequent. Paddington Station is a short walk away for journeys beyond London and will be served by Crossrail from December 2018 onward. For international travellers, Heathrow Airport can be reached by train from here in just 24 minutes.

Sales Director for Berkeley Homes Central London, Simon Howard, says "West End Gate perfectly captures the essence of London living, combining the best of old and new in its design and location. These new apartments are ideally placed to enjoy everything London has to offer, from the excitement and bustle of the West End's night life, to the waterside cafes of Little Venice and the rich culture of stylish Mayfair. West End Gate offers an exciting opportunity for homebuyers and investors alike."

About  Berkeley:

Founded in 1976, Berkeley is one of the UK's best known developers of new homes. The vision has been the same since the beginning: to be a dynamic and innovative company with a passionate commitment to provide superbly designed and built homes in excellent locations in London and the South East of England. 'Berkeley' has undoubtedly become a byword for excellence.

Berkeley's first homes were typically large executive style properties, but today the Berkeley portfolio reflects the aspirations of a much broader range of home buyers, encompassing medium to large-scale developments in towns, cities and the countryside, mixed use schemes, riverside apartments, refurbished historic buildings and urban loft spaces. The company has also gained considerable experience in creating sustainable communities within complex regeneration schemes and today all building takes place on brownfield sites.

In 2015, Berkeley further consolidated its commitment to exemplary customer service by becoming the first homebuilder to receive a ServiceMark accreditation from the Institute of Customer Service. Berkeley's Health & Safety record is also to be commended: its performance this year is the strongest ever, even though staff numbers are at an all-time high.

Driving forward, Berkeley thrives on fresh input and bright ideas, setting up an Innovation Fund (backed by £2 million) to support R&D into new products or research designed to improve Health & Safety. The Berkeley Group is made up of five main autonomous companies: St George, St James, Berkeley, St Edward and St William.
