Jones Lang LaSalle Marketing London's Prime Condominium Development in Bangkok

The Corniche, a new landmark development on the south side of the River Thames by St James

Jones Lang LaSalle Thailand in association with a UK leading developer, St James, announces the launch of The Corniche in Bangkok. The Corniche is a new landmark condominium development of three towers on the south side of the River Thames by St James, part of the Berkeley Group.

Suphin Mechuchep, Managing Director of Jones Lang LaSalle Thailand, said “We have seen continued interest of high-net-worth Thais looking for opportunities to purchase residential properties in London.  Some of them are parents who sent or plan to send their children to schools or universities in London and want to purchase a condominium as a residence for their children and where they can stay when they visit their children. These Thai purchasers also expect some capital gains when they sell the property after their children finish the education and move back to Thailand.”

“Other Thai purchasers are ultra-high-net-worth individuals who seek opportunities to invest in the world’s best established property market of London that offers good risk-adjusted returns and has no restriction on foreign ownership,” Suphin continued.

According to Jones Lang LaSalle, London residential prices in 2013 have already risen above most analysts’ expectations and are now predicted to rise around 6-8% in 2013 with some areas such as Nine Elms Lane and Albert Embankment already seeing rises above these levels in the first half of the year alone. With the demand for an extra 40,000 new homes per year only being half met the prices are set to continue rising for the foreseeable future. As analysts have stated that now the economy in the UK is recovering, significant new domestic demand is expected to only fuel the current rises in price.

Upon completion in 2017, The Corniche will comprise of 168 suites, one, two and three bedroom apartments and a select number of penthouses. All of the residences will be designed to the highest specifications; featuring floor to ceiling glass windows and interior designed kitchens and bathrooms, all exuding refinement through textures and curves. Exclusivity and privacy is maintained with no more than seven apartments at any level.
The Corniche will also feature extensive residents’ facilities including a gym, pool, spa, cinema, club lounge on the 19th floor, 24 hour concierge services and secure underground parking. There will also be commercial spaces including restaurants and cafes in a newly created public piazza facing out onto the River Thames.

Sean Ellis, Chairman of St James, comments: “The Corniche is a flagship project demonstrating St James’ commitment to delivering elegant and desirable residences to a global audience. As a brand, we continue to work with the world’s most respected architectural practices to create new, aesthetically appealing communities for London. Albert Embankment is set to become one of the most desirable places to live over the next 10 years.”
With architecture by world renowned practice, Fosters + Partners, architects of the award-winning Chek Lap Kok Airport, Hong Kong, The Corniche has been designed to reflect the shape of the iconic River Thames. The towers mimic the curves of the river by creating a sinuous flow through the balconies and curved wave-like exteriors.

Grant Brooker, Design Director and Senior Partner, Foster + Partners, comments: “When designing The Corniche, we took great care to create homes that maximised the panoramic views of London which are on offer. The curved effect of the balconies and the external appearance is a result of this considered approach, offering unique residences of which we are very proud to present.”
